The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver program is ideal for certified divers with a minimum of 20 logged dives who want to gain experience, confidence, and freedom underwater. Following SSI’s experience-based training approach, this program allows you to expand your skills through four structured specialty courses, conducted with certified SSI instructors in real dive conditions.

Training includes four specialty courses, carefully selected to provide a balanced and meaningful advancement in recreational diving: Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, Enriched Air Nitrox, and Perfect Buoyancy. Each specialty consists of academic learning and open water training dives, preceded by a comprehensive instructor briefing.
You progress through real diving experiences at a comfortable pace, focusing on skill development, safety, and enjoyment, without being rushed.
You will develop advanced dive planning, depth awareness, buoyancy control, and overall underwater confidence. Training focuses on applying new techniques in real-world conditions while improving efficiency, trim, and situational awareness.
Upon completion, you earn four SSI Specialty certifications and receive the globally recognized SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition, with all training credited toward future SSI specialty and continuing education programs.

To begin the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver training, students must have an active MySSI profile. This can be accessed through the SSI website or by using the MySSI App on iOS or Android.
The MySSI App provides access to your specialties training materials, digital logbook, and certification cards, all securely stored in one place and available online or offline.
You must have your own complete scuba diving equipment to participate in the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course, including mask, snorkel, fins, BCD, regulator, and dive computer.
If you do not own all the required equipment, rental gear is available, ensuring you have everything needed for a safe and enjoyable training experience.
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course is typically completed in 3 days and consists of six open water training dives. These dives are conducted in real diving conditions, allowing you to gain experience across multiple specialty areas under the guidance of a certified SSI instructor.
For the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver program, each student must complete the required SSI training forms before participating in any training activities. For minors, all forms must be reviewed and signed by a parent or legal guardian.
